While this may sound like a lot, keep in mind that this is an 11 story building, and most of the floors are for the apartments. The apartments will be small, but for the target market, this should be fine enough. Rent is $1,060 for studios, and $1,140 for 1B apartments. Since this is subsidized housing, the cost won’t matter much since you are likely still paying 30% of your income to the unit. However, the churn rate for studios is greater. If you want to get to to the top of the list as quickly as possible, then opting for a Studio apartment is your best solution.
Since Duquesne University is so close, a low income student will benefit from this building. Even if they are going to Carlow College, Carnegie Mellon University, or University of Pittsburgh, they will benefit from the 4 Oakland Corridor buses. This will be ideal for those that will need student housing. Keep in mind, this is not dormitory living. If you are renting this space, you would like have 10 people in the apartment regularly as there simply is not enough space.
